Announcement

Based on experiences from the MENA region, the EMPOWERS Partnership is proud to launch and share with the water and development communities a set of five publications related to local water governance. The publications range from guidelines, methods and tools for use in an innovative approach to participatory water planning and dialogue within and between local and intermediate levels; to a ‘Guide to Process Documentation’. Another is story book documenting the successes and challenges faced by the community people and the water service providers as they plan together for the better management and development of their villages' water resources, and a set of Principles and recommendations for policy and practice for improved local water governance.
All publications advocate a process of collaboration through dialogue, to bring about a change in the way water sector professionals and water users work with each other to better plan and manage their water resources, as well as, advocate the inclusion of marginalised groups in these planning and decision making processes.
The EMPOWERS Publications on Local Water Governance can be directly accessed and downloaded from the EMPOWERS project website (www.project.empowers.info <http://www.project.empowers.info/> ).
