Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM)
H.E. Dr. Mahmoud Abu Zaid, Minister of Water and Irrigation in Egypt patronized this workshop. The opening ceremony convened at the Regional Center for Training and Water Studies. More than twenty participants, facilitators and lecturers, most of them were senior officials, from 9 OIC countries "Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen" benefited from this workshop. Lecturers and facilitators from EMPOWERS Partnership, WaDImena and INWRDAM prepared and delivered the training in a professional manner. H.E. The Chairman of the Pakistani Council in Water Resources, Islamabad, Pakistan (PCRWR) participated in the whole workshop and delivered a special session on IWRM to the workshop participants. The participants appreciated highly the workshop and it is concluded that all participants had benefited from the training opportunity.
This training workshop trained participants in the use of such new and innovative approaches and methodologies. The workshop emphasized participatory stakeholder problem analysis, problem focused water resource assessment, analysis of information on water resource, infrastructure, demand and access and building and testing scenarios for future planning. Basic information was prepared beforehand by each country team. Country teams from Egypt, Jordan and Palestine shared their experience and new insights in the new methodologies with other country teams.
This training workshop was attended by a large number of experts, scientists, water resources managers and planners and policy makers from 9 OIC countries.
